Background
As part of its artistic programme, La Vallée Village is inviting the artist Jace to take up residence in the village throughout the year.
The aim is to produce video content that introduces the artist, showcases their work and tells the story of the collaboration, whilst positioning the venue as a curator of artistic experiences.
Challenge
Producing an immersive video under challenging conditions:
• Outdoor filming in adverse weather (rain)
• 1 day of production
• Public environment (managing passers-by in the shot)
• The artist did not wish to show their face
• Dual format: portrait (social media) & landscape (YouTube / web)
• Limited duration (< 3 minutes) with a strong need to hold the viewer’s attention
Concept
I have developed a short, immersive documentary style.
• Narration provided solely by the artist’s voice
• No questions → fluid and natural editing
• Three-part structure:
- Introduction
- Inspiration
- Collaboration
- Introduction
- Inspiration
- Collaboration
👉 The visuals serve to illustrate the narrative: we get to know the artist through their gestures, their work and their surroundings, without ever seeing their face.
Role & production
• Development of the editorial concept
• Preparation of the interview (questions & structure)
• Filming (video & audio) using a lightweight setup
• Conducting the interview
• Editing and narrative pacing
• Variations:
Portrait format (social media teaser)
Landscape format (YouTube & website)

Project approach
The editing has been designed to maximise engagement without compromising the artistic dimension:
• A visual hook right from the start
• A balance between a dynamic pace and moments of respite
• Continuous voice-over to create a narrative thread
• Highlighting key moments and the final artworks
👉 Objective: to capture the viewer’s attention whilst allowing room for emotion and understanding
Impact
• Sharing on Instagram, YouTube and the website
• Helping to raise the profile of the artistic collaboration
• Attracting visitors keen to discover the artist’s work
